DATEYE

First Connection

This guide walks you through adding your first device connection in DATEYE. Once a connection is active, DATEYE can import measurement data from the device automatically.

Adding a Connection

  1. Open DATEYE and go to the Connections screen
  2. Click the Add Connection button or the + icon in the toolbar
  3. A configuration panel opens — select your device type from the list
  4. Fill in the required fields for your device (IP address, port, folder path, or API credentials depending on the adapter)
  5. Click Save

The connection appears as a card on the Connections screen.

Network adapters (AL550, Eye-Office, OPA3) require the device and the computer running DATEYE to be on the same local network. If the status indicator stays red after saving, verify that both devices are connected to the same network and that no firewall is blocking the connection.

Required Fields by Adapter

Each device type requires different configuration fields. The Adapters section of this documentation covers each device in detail. The fields you will typically encounter are:

FieldUsed ByDescription
IP AddressNetwork adaptersThe local IP address of the device
PortNetwork adaptersThe network port (usually pre-configured on the device)
Folder PathFile-based adaptersLocal or network folder where the device writes export files
API KeyCloud adaptersAuthentication credential for API-based connections

Understanding the Status Indicator

After saving a connection, DATEYE immediately attempts to verify it. The status indicator on the connection card shows the result:

ColorMeaning
GreenConnection active — DATEYE can reach the device or service
RedConnection error — DATEYE cannot reach the device (check network, IP, port)
GreyInactive — the connection is disabled or has never been tested

To manually refresh the status, click the refresh icon on the connection card.

Verifying an Import

To confirm the connection works end-to-end:

  1. On the device, perform a measurement or trigger an export (exact steps depend on the device — see the Adapters section)
  2. Switch to DATEYE — the import happens automatically for most adapters, or you can trigger it manually with the import icon on the connection card
  3. Go to the History screen and confirm a new import entry appears with a non-zero record count

If no import entry appears after triggering a measurement, check the connection status and consult the adapter-specific guide for your device.

Next Steps

Your first connection is active. Add additional connections for other devices in your practice, then consult the Adapters section for device-specific configuration details.
